What To Wear To The Cleanup Site

Dress comfortably for the weather

Cleanups are held in rain or shine!

Wear sturdy closed-toed shoes with
sox
-
A hat to shade your face and head
-
Extra shirt, sweatshirt or jacket
Sunglasses
What to Bring To The Cleanup Site
-
First aid kit (teachers)
-
Extra garbage bags (teachers)
-
Sunscreen (lather up - it gets hot
out there!)
-
Towel (in case you get wet)
-
Water and snacks or lunch
AND
-
Work gloves made from cloth or leather
(not plastic, as glass and sharp
objects can pucture it too easily)
Precautions To Tell Your Students
DO
wear work gloves when picking up
all debris
work in teams or groups
stay on the shoreline
if injured, cut or scraped tell
an adult and get first aid immediately
DON'T
-
wear open-toed shoes or go barefoot
-
pick up needles (suringes), broken
glass, or condoms
-
(mark the spot and contact an adult)
-
walk on rocks or jetties
-
go near highways or busy roads
